Is this the funniest anti-drug commercial ever?

I know this commercial is over a year old, but I saw a re-run of it the other night and it still holds its own. First of all, is the economic crisis so bad that drug dealers have reverted back from using beepers to using payphones? If I was a kid in middle school looking to score smack to look cool in front of my friends this commercial not only flat out tells me that I can get shit out of my parent’s medicine cabinet, but it also tells me that if I can’t get the damn child-safe cap off all I have to do is find the only remaining payphone within a 50 mile radius to find my friendly neighborhood dope man. Obviously the pièce de résistance of this spot is the “…wish I did” at the end.

Swine Flu

From what I understand a bird with bird flu bit a pig and then a Mexican human (with Mexican human flu) had sex with said pig to make a super virus. Pig flu is here and it’s coming for you.

New Music- ‘Gimme Sympathy’ by Metric

Thank god for Metric. Ever since I heard “Old World Underground Where are You Now?,” back in Senior year of high school I’ve loved this band. “Gimme Sympathy” is their newest single from their album Fantasies.

This music video shows the video and how the video was made in a split-screen of awesome and reminds me why I love this Canadian Indie Band- not only are their songs melodic, innovative and beautiful but so are their music videos. I still remember when I first saw the music video for “Combat Baby,” wow.

A Cincinnati man has been charged with beating his young son after the boy performed poorly while playing a videogame.

50-year-old Terry Taulbee of Cincinnati, Ohio, was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence for hitting his six-year-old son on his lower back and buttocks, leaving the area painfully swollen with a large red hand mark. While it was initially unclear whether the assault occurred as the result of Taulbee’s gameplay or his son’s, the boy’s mother confirmed with police that Taulbee “became upset when the boy didn’t play well.”

Other details, such as the game in question or whether the father has a previous history of violence, haven’t been released. Joystiq suggested the boy was actually playing Boong-ga Boong-ga but later clarified that the remark was just an incredibly tasteless attempt at making a joke. Not that it’s particularly relevant; smacking a kid because he’s having trouble with a videogame is so completely beyond the pale that it doesn’t matter whether he’s playing solitaire or Gary Grigsby’s Pacific War.

Taulbee was being held at the Hamilton County Jail while he awaiting arraignment, which was expected to take place today. The boy’s mother has filed for a restraining order.

Starter Jacket Tuesday?

Some of you may have noticed that “Mustache Monday” was a DNP yesterday. No, this was not due to laziness. It was because there is still no clear winner in last weeks Epic Moustach Monday. It’s been pretty much floating around 50/50, and im setting the cutoff at 60/40. That’s right, first to 60% takes it and we move on with our lives.

So today, as a treat, were having a showdown of a completely different type. Something I like to call, “Battle of the Starter Jackets: 1993 Ford Family Christmas Edition”.

Nacho’s Nook- Gaelic Football

Yes this is a shameless self-promotion…do I care? NO!

Here’s the deal. Greg Austin’s ESS 250 Global Sport class is holding a co-ed 7v7 Gaelic Football tournament this coming Saturday (the 25^th). From what I hear it’s supposed to be wicked nice that day so you best show up. You can either put together a team or we can put you on one the day of.

What is Gaelic Football? Gaelic Football is the most popular sport in Ireland. Theses are the basic rules: You may carry the ball for four steps, then you have to bounce the ball to yourself off of the ground or off of your foot. You cannot pick the ball directly off the ground with your hands. You can pass the ball by kicking it or striking it with your hand (no throwing). Three points if you get the ball in the goal, one point if you get it over the cross bar. For liability purposes we have to play that contact will be the same as IM indoor soccer and floor hockey.

There will be a clinic at noon and the games will start at one. We are playing on the field behind Lawson and Rooke.

I’m starting to heat up the job search, and I think I discovered what I want to do with my life. Only problem is I can’t find a listing for “sitting on a bench all night telling 17,000 people ‘shhhh’ after someone else accomplishes something @ $711,517/ per year”. I’ve tried searching “Aaron Gray”, “Aaron Gray Douchebag”, and “Aaron Gay Loves Al Qaeda” all over the internet, and still nothing. If anyone knows something I don’t, give me a call.
